Hip Hop Feminist
A zine exploring the idea: can I be a feminist and listen to misogynistic hip-hop? A monotone zine in red and pink to portray the suffering of women through male oppression, over ages and to this day. The two colours represent the binaries of male/female, power/powerlessness, objectifier/objectified. Interest created by this work led to my dissertation on the subject and a visual essay in the form of animation on a female interpretation of the hip-hop song, “I love it,” by Kanye West and Lil Pump.
